American Ballet’s Misty Copeland, auto racing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., singer/songwriter Lauren Alaina and actor Bailee Madison are among the celebrities rallying around Vera Bradley Inc.’s campaign to support the Blessings in a Backpack organization.
Vera Bradley will donate 50,000 backpacks filled with food to children in need and will host backpack-packing events, school carnivals and back-to-school distribution events in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville, Charlotte and Panama City, Fla., where the giveaways and celebrity appearances will happen. Blessings in a Backpack works to provide food for needy elementary school children across America.
“Fifty thousand children across the United States will start school this year with a brand new backpack thanks to the generosity of Vera Bradley and their commitment to giving back,” said Nikki Grizzle, chief marketing officer of Blessings in a Backpack.
Vera Bradley, in its second year supporting Blessings in a Backpack, has also launched an awareness and fundraising campaign, running through Aug. 31, benefiting the nonprofit organization. With a minimum $10 donation, customers get a free Vera Bradley mini backpack keychain. Vera Bradley will match the donations up to $50,000.
